Murder suspect confessed to killing man, witness testifies

Testimony continued Wednesday, September 28, in the murder trial for Deonte Marquis Kitchens, a Macon man charged in the 2011 slaying of Al Culver. Culver was found fatally shot in his car on Little Short Street in the Fort Hill neighborhood on Oct. 29, 2011. Culver’s cousin testified that he heard Kitchens confess to killing Culver, saying Kitchens told Culver to leave and shot him when he didn’t go.

When a Bibb County sheriff’s deputy went to the store at the corner of Shurling Drive and Maynard Street, the clerk showed the officer a picture of the culprit, who had walked off.

Cousin of slain man describes hearing man confess to the killing

LaJohn Stephens, a cousin of All Culver, testified Wednesday in the murder trial of Deonte Kitchens. Kitchens is charged with murder in Culver's 2011 fatal shooting on Little Short Street in east Macon's Fort Hill neighborhood. Stephens said he heard Kitchens admit he killed Culver days after the killing.

Witness testifies she used county money to buy murder weapon years later

Testimony began Tuesday in the murder trial for Deonte Marquis Kitchens, a Macon man charged with the 2011 Macon slaying of Al Culver. Culver was found fatally shot in his car on Little Short Street in the Fort Hill neighborhood Oct. 29, 2011. Kitchens’ co-defendant, Kelvin Carswell, is set to testify in the Bibb County trial this week. The prosecution alleges that Culver was mistaken for another man involved in a feud between groups living in Fort Hill and Macon’s Kings Park neighborhood.
