Prosecutor: Gun recovered after Wings Cafe shootout used in 2012 gang shooting

Derek Taylor, 30, was sentenced to 12 years in prison July 25, 2016, for his part in the 2014, shootout at Macon's Wings Cafe that left three men fatally injured. During the Bibb County Superior Court hearing, Prosecutor Sandra Matson said Taylor discharged a .357-caliber handgun in the parking lot that later was recovered by police and matched to a 2012 shooting involving the Gangster Disciples street gang and the man Gangster Disciples confronted inside Wings Cafe Dec. 12, 2014, sparking the fatal shootout.

Lawyer for man accused in romantic rival's death argues client acted in self defense

Defense attorney Franklin J. Hogue argued July 21, 2016, at a bond hearing for Frederick Lydell Johnson Jr., 29, asking that a bond be set. Johnson is charged with murder in the June 21, 2016, shooting death of 34-year-old Tyrell Jordan at Sandy Springs Apartments in Macon. Bibb County prosecutor Larissa Ollivierre argued that Johnson may run or cause a risk to the community if he's released on bond. She contended that Johnson "wanted the confrontation." Judge to Wings Cafe defendant: The killing has to stop

In sentencing Master John Henry Brown July 20, 2016, for his participation in the Dec. 12, 2014, fatal shootout at Macon's Wings Cafe, Bibb County Superior Court Judge Howard Simms told Brown someone has to do something to end the killing. Brown replied, "I understand."

Customers, workers robbed at Macon title pawn on Pio Nono

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery just before 11 a.m. Monday at the Complete Cash Discount Title Pawn at 3131 Pio Nono Ave., which is at the corner of Williamson Road in Macon. The robbery involved two gunmen who ordered customers and workers to stay in a room for five minutes before coming out.
