Geico, Macon Tracks and Run & See Georgia will host the Run 2 End Alzheimer’s at the Landings 5K, 10.5K and Fun Run in Warner Robins on April 4. Pre-registration ends March 21, but runners can register up to race day. The courses for the 5K run and 10.5K run both start and finish at the Landings Pointe Plaza on Ga. 247 and are flat until entering Statham’s Landing subdivision. Upon entering, there is a downhill gradient and the return routes have an equal uphill gradient until leaving Statham’s Landing. The 10K run uses the perimeter roads in the subdivision that include an inactive golf cart path at the far end of the neighborhood.
“This will be our fifth year as we approach $80,000 plus raised for Alzheimer’s,” race director John Rowlands said.
There are many age categories, from 10 and younger through 80 and older, that are clarified on the registration flier. Pre-registration is by March 21; $20 for single event ($15 if 12 or younger) or both events (providing one shirt only) for $30. From March 22-April 1, a single event is $25 ($15 for 12 or under); and $40 both events (one shirt provided). On Race Day, April 4, a single event is $30 ($15 for 12 and younger) or $45 for both events (one shirt provided). Registration for the Fun Run through April 4 is $10 (no shirt given). There is even a Phantom Runner category, which means registration is being taken by March 21 for $20 for T-shirt only but no race participation. A signature on the race registration form by a parent or guardian is required for anyone younger than 18. There is only one entry per form, and the registration form may be photocopied.
The race day schedule begins at 7 a.m. with packet pick-up. The 5K/walk begins at 8 a.m. followed by the 10K run at 8:30 a.m. The 5K awards are at 9:15 a.m. and 10K awards at 10 a.m. The Fun Run awards will be given after the 5K awards. The race is being officiated by Macon Tracks Running Club. Run results will be posted at macontracks.org and georgiarunner.com.

There are three team opportunities in the Run 2 End Alzheimer’s at the Landings 5K, 10.5K and Fun Run. The Corporate Challenge is for teams looking to put the most participants in the 5K/10.5K combined event. The Military Challenge is for active/reserve/guard military teams trying to put the most participants in one event, either the 5K or the 10.5K. The final team opportunity is to form a team to donate to Alzheimer’s through www.run2endalz.org. All details about the race are available by contacting John Rowlands at 478-922-6556 or emailing email@example.com.
All proceeds from the run benefit the Alzheimer’s Association.
