Hoping to help young players get back into the swing of things before tryouts, Warner Robins High School’s Demon Diamond Booster Club will hold its third annual Demon Tune-Up for players ages 5-13 on Saturday at the Demon Diamond field at Warner Robins High School.
Participants will rotate through stations led by the Demon baseball coaches, and stations will include instruction on hitting, pitching, fielding and base-running.
Jimmy Green, president of the Demon Diamond Booster Club, said the event is open to anyone.
More and more girls are playing baseball and are welcome to attend -- however the day will focus on baseball, not softball.
The day gives younger players a chance to tune up their skills before Little League and recreation department seasons start. It also is a chance to meet older players and high school coaches. Players from the Demons’ varsity team will be on hand to assist.
The event will be from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Players will receive instruction, along with lunch, a snack and a T-shirt.
The cost of the event for a player who pre-registers is $45; the cost on the day of the Demon Tune-Up is $50. Parents are invited to stay throughout the event and watch from the stands.
