The Miss Warner Robins Princess pageant was held the afternoon of July 26 at the Homer J. Walker Civic Center.
Girls in six categories were crowned and will represent Warner Robins at various events during the upcoming year. Their first official duty was to be presented at the Miss Warner Robins pageant held that evening.
Kylie Grace Matheny -- who is all of 2 years old -- was crowned Teeny Miss Warner Robins and was on hand at the Miss Warner Robins pageant that evening.
Adorable doesn’t sum her up. Adorable to the 10th degree maybe would. Blonde and full of personality, Kylie was accompanied by her parents Ericka and Jimmy Matheny back to the Civic Center that night.
Earlier that day, she had won not only the title of Teeny Miss Warner Robins but the preliminary categories in her division of prettiest dress, prettiest smile and most photogenic. She was also selected the People’s Choice winner.
Trying to interview Kylie was a little difficult -- I haven’t had to speak “two” in a long, long time. But Kylie did explain to me that she was watching “Frozen” before her return to the Civic Center. She also mentioned her favorite color is pink.
I tried to get her to talk to me about her actual pageant win experience, but she didn’t seem to be too interested in talking about her crown -- although she did say a couple of times that “it is mine” when I asked about her crown.
Kylie did mention several times that it was dark outside -- probably a big deal because she is after all only two and probably doesn’t go a lot of places after dark.
Her mother, Ericka, said that a friend whose daughter had participated the year before had told her how the Miss Warner Robins Princess pageant was such a great experience.
“We decided that if it was fun, we should try it,” Matheny said.
Kylie did have fun during the pageant and seemed to be having fun on her return to the Miss Warner Robins pageant Saturday evening.
She showed me how she blew kisses at the judges and demonstrated several times how her dress “twirled.”
