WARNER ROBINS -- Smoke may be visible from controlled burns expected this week and beyond on the south side of Robins Air Force Base.
The largest burn will be on a 50-acre site along Ga. 247 that will host a 10-megawatt solar installation, base spokesman Roland Leach said. A construction date for the solar array has not been set. Another five-acre clearing farther inside the fence line will also be burned.
Because the burns must be conducted in specific weather conditions, a decision whether to conduct a burn likely won’t be made until the day before it happens, a base news release stated.
The Georgia Forestry Commission and 78th Civil Engineer Group, with oversight from the base fire department, are conducting the burns.

Smoke may be visible for several days.
