If anyone knows a veteran in need of a home, an email might take care of the problem.
Three organizations are teaming up to give a free home -- no strings attached -- to a veteran in need. It can also be an active-duty military member.
Bank of America, The Nehemiah Corp. and EXIT Success Realty’s Blair Myers Team are looking to give a home to a veteran in the Warner Robins area.
Myers said Bank of America donates foreclosed homes to The Nehemiah Corp. to help veterans get homes. Most of those homes are sold to the veterans for a reduced cost, but sometimes homes are given away.
Myers said he has worked with Nehemiah on home sales to veterans, but this is the first time he has helped give away a home.
His office will review the stories for each veteran submitted, then pare it down to four or five finalists. The finalists will be invited to the house sometime in August and the winner will be announced.
Many people have already sent entries.
“We’ve seen a lot of very touching stories,” he said.
July 18 is the deadline for entries, which can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or by visiting the website www.soldbyblair.com/home-giveaway.
To be considered, veterans should give their time in service and how it affected them in both good and bad ways. They should also discuss how their service affected their family.
The location of the home is not being given, but it is near Robins Air Force Base and is in move-in condition. Myers said it will also have appliances.
Veterans can submit an entry themselves or people can submit an entry on a veteran’s behalf.
