WARNER ROBINS -- A man died Tuesday night in an apartment fire in Warner Robins, authorities said.
The victim was identified as 46-year-old Kenneth Johnson, said Houston County Coroner Danny Galpin.
Capt. James Franklin, public information officer for the Warner Robins Fire Department, said the victim had been smoking and caught the couch on fire in his apartment located in the Cedar Pointe Apartment complex at 135 Ignico Drive.
The victim had a pulse when he was found on the floor between the living room and the kitchen and was rushed to Houston Medical Center, where he died, Franklin said.

His body was burned in the small fire, authorities said. Whether he perished from smoke inhalation or from his burn injuries or a combination won’t be known until after the autopsy. An autopsy is expected Wednesday afternoon.
No one else was injured and only the victim’s apartment was damaged, Franklin said.
The fire was called into 911 at 7:30 p.m.
