International City Golf Course has doubled annual memberships after decreasing the price and eliminating monthly memberships in January, Warner Robins golf pro Jarred Reneau said Wednesday.
Reneau said 38 golfers have bought new $200 annual memberships this month. It adds to the previous figure that ranged from 25 to 30 memberships annually, Reneau said. Annual memberships were previously $600.
“We’ll try it for a year,” Reneau said
Councilman Daron Lee said the new fee is a promotion for the newly-renovated course and an adjustment due to lower overhead. The city will pay off a 20-year loan on the golf course next month.
The board has also changed from walk-ins to pre-scheduled tee-times for members, in an effort to help move play along. A single 18-hole game is still available, Lee said.
The Building Authority oversee the city-owned golf course.
