A woman seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision Monday in Perry died early Tuesday morning, the Bibb County coroner said.
Edith Johnson, 64, of Perry, died at 2:58 a.m. in the surgical trauma intensive care unit at The Medical Center of Central Georgia, Coroner Leon Jones said.
David William Thompkins, 40, of Warner Robins, the other driver in the crash, remained in stable condition Tuesday, said Janie Poulnott, hospital spokeswoman.
Johnson and Thompkins were taken to The Medical Center after the crash at 11:54 a.m. Monday.
Thompkins was driving a 2006 Dodge Dakota pickup west near 425 Sandefur Road when he crossed the center line, striking an eastbound 2007 Toyota Camry driven by Johnson, said Houston County sheriff’s Cpl. Ben Lashley.
Thompkins was partially ejected from the truck, and Thompkins and Johnson were extricated from their vehicles by Perry firefighters, Lashley said.
A passenger in the pickup, Tara Longbine, 34, of Kathleen, declined treatment, Lashley said.
