Evergreen Street is open to traffic after a sinkhole closed it Wednesday, Warner Robins police said.
Tabitha Pugh, public information officer for the police department, said the 4-square-foot sinkhole was discovered about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. She said the road was reopened late Wednesday.
Warner Robins Utilities Director Montie Walters said the sinkhole developed from dirt slowly eroding under the road from a hole in a sewer line.
Utility crews dug up a section of the road to find the problem and repair the line, Walters said. Utility crews finished about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Walters said. Public work crews repaved that portion of the road.
