The Peach County school board unanimously approved Tuesday a revised agreement for its school resource officers, said C.B. Mathis, assistant superintendent of operations.
The agreement between the school district and county government includes cost-of-living adjustments for the officers’ hourly and overtime pay and will last for one year, he said.
The four officers are employed by the Peach County Sheriff’s Office, with two at Peach County High School and one each at Byron and Fort Valley middle schools.
The school district is responsible for reimbursing the county for a 40-hour work week plus overtime pay. The Peach County Commission also provides a supplement of $245 per officer, per month, according to the existing agreement that expires Sept. 30.

In other business, the board also unanimously agreed that board member Virginia Dixon will represent Peach County at the Georgia School Boards Association Delegate Assembly in June in Savannah, said Sara Mason, community/parent liaison. Board member Ben McDaniel will be the district’s alternate.
