A Georgia State Patrol operator said a motorist died Tuesday afternoon in an automobile accident on U.S. 341 near the Houston-Peach line.
Martha Pike Hamlin, 75, of Fort Valley was driving west on the highway when she went off the right shoulder and lost control, causing the vehicle to flip multiple times, the report stated.
Houston County Coroner Danny Galpin said it’s possible the woman’s health may have contributed to the crash.“Family members said she has a history of diabetes and has had a couple of spells,” Galpin said. “We don’t know if she did that or just went off the road in the curve.”
Hamlin’s Ford Explorer left the roadway and overturned several times down a ravine, Galpin said.
