An old packing shed suffered moderate to heavy damage Monday night in a fire.
The shed, located on U.S. 41 near Gunn Road near Centerville, was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived, Houston County Fire Chief Jimmy Willliams said.
The old building was mostly vacant, although a portion was rented by a private street-sweeping business, Williams said.
A passer-by called 911, and firefighters battled the blaze for about 2 hours, the chief said.
A firefighter suffered a sprained ankle fighting the fire, which remains under investigation, Williams said.
