The community can help some military families at Robins Air Force Base who don’t have enough resources to provide food and gifts for their families.
The Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce is holding a food drive to help 75 military families, including about 200 children, that have been identified by the First Sergeants at Robins.
People can help these families by donating canned goods (see list at www.116acw.acc.af.mil) or by making a monetary donation, which will help purchase turkeys, hams and other perishable items. Items past the expiration date should not be donated.
Last year, the community donated more than 10,500 canned good items and $2,070.
Donations can be dropped off at the chamber office at 305 Coliseum Drive by 5 p.m. Dec. 7. Monetary donations will be accepted through Dec. 21, and checks should be made out to the 116th Air Control Wing.
