Ryan Gilchrest, The Telegraph’s online general manager, will lead news operations in the newspaper’s Warner Robins office.
Gilchrest has directed The Telegraph’s Web site and interactive operations since March 2007. He will continue broad oversight of the newspaper’s Web operation while taking on new duties as the Houston County editor.
Gilchrest is a veteran of 11 years in journalism, the past six at The Telegraph. His background includes stints as both a sports and news editor, and as a reporter.
“I’m excited about the direction The Telegraph is taking in the Warner Robins area,” Gilchrest said. “It is a fast-growing and dynamic community, and I’m strongly committed to telling its stories every day in The Telegraph and on our Web site. I’m proud to have the opportunity to lead the team for the area’s only daily newspaper.
Never miss a local story.
“The Warner Robins area has an exciting future,” he said. “It has a strong military tradition, a rich athletic legacy, a public education system considered among Georgia’s best, and a rapidly growing business community. However, it also faces the challenges that come with growth and success. My job is to cover it all and share that news with the public, and I take that responsibility seriously.”
Telegraph Editor Sherrie Marshall said Gilchrest “has done a tremendous job leading the newspaper’s Web operation. Under his leadership, local breaking news has become a hallmark of the site, and traffic and visits to the site have grown tremendously. Ryan will bring that same dedication and focus to coverage of Houston and Peach counties, giving readers more news about these communities.”
