Susan Clark, Peach County superintendent of schools, injured her hip in a fall last week and is at home recuperating.
Jody Usry, board of education chairman, reported in an e-mail that Clark fell and fractured her hip while in Atlanta on Friday. She underwent surgery at Piedmont Hospital the same day and three screws were installed. She returned earlier this week.
Clark, now at home in Byron, is undergoing physical therapy and will be recuperating on crutches for about a month before returning to her office. “It’s one of those things that you take and try to make the best of it,” Clark said by telephone Tuesday.
Though she is at home, Clark plans to be present at Tuesday’s board of education meeting via Web cam, said Torise Battle, public information officer for Peach County schools. Clark has been superintendent for nearly a year, and this is the second time she has had surgical treatment. She underwent back surgery last spring.
