A broken sewer main late last week spilled about 22,500 gallons of sewage into a storm drain that leads to the Ocmulgee River, according to a report released Tuesday.
The Macon Water Authority report called the spill “major” and said it happened Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. at 1339 Rev. J.L. Mills Sr. Way, not far from the Bibb County jail.
The report said the water authority has hired a contractor to repair the line and that a bypass pump has been set up to reroute the sewage.
