A 45-year-old man who worked for a midstate plumbing company was killed Monday when his truck ran over him in north Bibb County.
Kenneth William O’Neill, the driver of a 2004 GMC 5500 box truck, broke down on Chadwick Trail, said Lt. Sean DeFoe, spokesman for the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
After calling for a wrecker, O’Neill was trying to remove the truck’s drive shaft to allow it to be towed, DeFoe said.
“He didn’t place blocks under the tires to keep it from rolling downhill, and as he pulled the drive shaft out, the vehicle began to roll,” he said.
Never miss a local story.
O’Neill, who lived in Juliette and was an employee of Pratt Plumbing in Lizella, was run over by the truck’s back tires, and he died on the scene, DeFoe said.
The incident happened some time after 5 p.m..
