Gresston is a dot on the map in Dodge County between Eastman and Cochran on Ga. 23, a good 45 minutes from Perry -- and Macon, Cordele and Milledgeville. But 19-year-old friends Waylon Huff and Michael Asbell II made the trip in a Dodge Ram pickup Tuesday.
They usually head out of town to find an atmosphere that they just can't find in Gresston. But Tuesday they were on a mission to find stardom.
They met casting directors Kathleen Sedita and Craig D'Entrone at the Holiday Inn Express in Perry to audition for a Country Music Television reality show named "Small Town Singles." The program will follow singles from small communities who are looking for love.
The pair thought they made a good impression.
Never miss a local story.
"They loved us," Asbell said after the audition. "Most of the people here come from big cites. Gresston only has one gas station and no stoplight."
Before spinning the wheels on the big Dodge truck as he exited the parking lot, Asbell allowed himself to dream just a little, "I hope we can get some money. It'd be nice to get the Chevy (truck) fixed."
