A second arrest has been made in an incident in which a homeowner Friday morning caught and detained a man suspected of breaking into cars.
According to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office release, further investigation led to the arrest of Daniel Christopher Mermann, 20, of Macon. Mermann was staying at the Palmtree Motel on Riverside Drive with Aaron Michael Massey-Jones.
Massey-Jones was detained by resident Timothy Johnson in the St. Ives neighborhood Friday after Johnson confronted him for suspicious behavior and the two tussled. Massey-Jones was charged with one count each of entering an auto, criminal trespass, criminal damage to property and four counts of theft by receiving stolen property.
A search warrant was issued for the motel room and items were found that did not belong the either of the men, the release stated. Mermann was charged with four counts of receiving stolen property. The two men are also suspected in car break-ins in Houston County and Dooly County and a burglary in Hawkinsville.
