A man was taken to a hospital after a large tree limb fell on him and three vendor booths at the market at Wesleyan College about 9 a.m. Saturday.
A spokesperson for the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said the victim was 63 years old, and his injuries did not appear to be life threatening. He was taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia.
Sarah Corum, a vendor at the market, said the scene was “chaos” after the limb fell. She said she was talking to clients and “all of sudden, we heard the tree start to split.”
The limb then fell on the man and booths, she said.
“It was all very sudden and very crazy,” she said.
Someone called 911, and the man was freed after an ambulance arrived, Corum said.
Chuck Smith, who is with Wesleyan security, said the situation “could have been a lot worse.”
“It’s an old oak and just missed a little girl,” he said.
