The Macon Police Department gave out toys and bicycles to children at their annual Christmas lunch in Central City Park Monday.
The police served about 450 hot dogs and 50 hamburgers to kids and their parents. Free haircuts and a bounce house rounded out the event.
After lunch, children grabbed the mic long enough for the DJ to cut the music as they took turns belting out Christmas songs.
Despite the weather, the bounce house set up outside the Long Building got a good workout.
Never miss a local story.
Inside the Round Building, bikes and toys, most of which were donated, were laid out for children to pick as they came in in twos or threes.
Every child stopped to talk to Santa on their way out the door. Santa repeated the them of the Macon Police earlier in the event, that children should stay out of trouble well out of the holiday season.
"If you're bad between now and Christmas, I'm going to come and take back my bike," Santa said.
