A 61-year-old Macon woman died Thursday night in a car crash at the intersection of Eisenhower Parkway and Fulton Mill Road.
Patsy Nicholas, of Woodridge Drive, was driving a Toyota Camry on Fulton Mill Road just after 7 p.m. when she attempted to cross Eisenhower Parkway and was struck by two vehicles, said Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones, who said she died about an hour later at a local hospital.
Witnesses saw the Toyota driven by Nicholas stop on Fulton Mill Road and begin to merge onto Eisenhower Parkway into the path of a westbound Nissan Altima, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
The cars collided, spinning the Nissan around and onto the shoulder. The Toyota was still on the road when it was struck by a Dodge Ram 3500 truck that was pulling a trailer with a vehicle on top. The truck, which was behind the Nissan, struck the Toyota in the driver’s side. Nicholas was taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia where she was pronounced dead, according to the Bibb Sheriff’s Office.
The driver of the Nissan, 50-year-old Linda Jordan of Reynolds also was taken to the hospital and was listed in stable condition Thursday night, according to Bibb County Lt. Sean DeFoe. The driver of the truck, 39-year-old Christoper Carmichael of Fort Valley, was treated by paramedics at the scene. The crash is under investigation.
