Bibb County’s property tax bills are on the way, meaning the check ought to be in the mail in the next two months.
The county tax commissioner’s office sent out a notice Thursday saying the bills will be mailed this week. Taxpayers can opt to pay some of the bill by Oct. 15, but full payment is due Nov. 15.
Macon, Bibb County and the school system held their tax rates steady this year despite a decline in assessed property values. Nearly all tax bills should fall or remain the same. That’s a big change from last year’s tax bills, when the first property revaluation in eight years went through, the state rescinded a hefty tax credit and taxes were raised by the city of Macon and the school system.
