A Macon police officer shot a dog in the back paw Thursday morning after the dog charged at the officer in the 1100 block of Rocky Creek Road.
A woman who lives in the area called police after the dog chased her and her children on the way to the bus stop about 7:45 a.m., according to a police report.
While the officer and the dog’s owner searched for the dog, the dog started chasing and trying to bite people walking down the street. The officer yelled at the dog and the dog started charging the officer and was growling, according to the report.
The officer shot the dog in the back right paw. Animal Control later took the dog, and the owner was issued citations, according to the report.
