A 29-year-old Macon man died in a three-automobile accident Wednesday evening in the 6000 block of Hawkinsville Road, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
In a news release, sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Sean DeFoe said Joshua Dykes attempted to maneuver his 2005 Honda Civic between a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 58-year-old Lucky Brown, of Eastman, and another vehicle in front of him.
Dykes’ car clipped the front of Brown’s truck, spun sideways and went airborne before sliding sideways in the southbound lanes of Hawkinsville Road, the release stated. Dykes’ car slid into a 1999 GMC Sierra driven by Stephen Birdsong, 55, the release stated.
Dykes was taken to a Macon hospital where he died from his injuries at 6:52 p.m. Brown and his passenger were not hurt, and Birdsong injured his knee, according to the report.
