Emergency workers took a 28-year-old man to the hospital Monday morning after he was struck by a car while crossing Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, between Riverside Drive and Walnut Street.
Eddie Joe Sutton, a Haddock resident who works for Macon Machine Inc. on Walnut Street, was taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia after the collision, which happened about 9:45 a.m., Macon police said. Sutton was thrown into the car’s front windshield.
Sutton was trying to get to the Marathon convenience store. He crossed in front of a log truck that avoided hitting him, but as he continued walking in the left lane, the driver of a car traveling southbound did not see him and struck him, police said.
EMTs were on hand within minutes. Volunteers routed traffic around the accident scene while technicians put Sutton into an ambulance. His injuries were not life-threatening, police said.
No charges were filed in the case.
