Two people are dead and one hospitalized following a single-vehicle traffic accident on Interstate 75 south Thursday morning, according to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Justin Tabor.
About 6:30 a.m., Sierra Barrier, 18, of Kentucky, was killed after she fell asleep at the wheel of a 1992 Honda Accord a quarter mile north of Exit 135, veered down an embankment 200 feet and hit a tree, said Tabor.
Passenger Charles Weyness, 23, of Kentucky, also was killed in the accident.
Another passenger, Ricky Watkins, 23, of Kentucky, is at The Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.
The GSP is investigating the wreck after Perry police first responded to the scene, Perry Police Chief George Potter said.
