The Georgia Department of Transportation plans continuous single-lane closures through June 30 on Interstate 16 in Twiggs, Bleckley and Laurens counties.
Beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, the closures will affect both east and westbound traffic from Ga. 96 to a point east of Ga. 278, the DOT said Friday.
Workers are performing concrete pavement rehabilitation on the inside lanes of the interstate.
A stretch of the road has been one-laned in both directions this week as work on the project begins.
DOT officials cautioned drivers to slow down and pay attention to message signs, barrels and cones because workers and equipment will be operating near travel lanes.
