Students have a little more than a week to enter the Ag Day in Georgia essay and art contests.
Entries must be postmarked no later than Feb. 3 for the contests sponsored by the Georgia Department of Agriculture and Georgia Agriculture in the Classroom Council Inc.
The theme for the contests is “Agriculture: Touching Every Georgia County.”
For the essay contest, students should write about agriculture in their counties and/or how agriculture affects their lives, their family and neighbors. Art contestants may draw or paint something relating to the theme or any Georgia farm scene, according to a news release.
Never miss a local story.
Students in fourth through eighth grades should prepare an essay of 100 to 200 words. Students in grades nine through 12 should prepare an essay of 250 to 750 words.
The art contest has three categories: kindergarten through third grade; fourth through eighth grades; and ninth through 12th grades.
