The Macon Water Authority lifted the boil-water advisory it issued Wednesday for residents who were affected by a water-main break. The areas affected include those south of Eisenhower Parkway; west of Pio Nono Avenue; north of Rocky Creek Road; and east of Sussex Drive.
Darryl Macy, manager of sewer conveyance and water distribution for the MWA, said all the necessary water samples had been taken. The authority determined that all drinking water is safe for public consumption.
The water main broke Wednesday morning inside a sewer manhole, flooding the manhole, and causing sewage to come in contact with water as it discharged from the broken main. After the main was repaired, work crews performed testing and flushing of the water distribution lines within the area of the system that was impacted.
