A Macon police officer fired two shots, killing a deer with broken legs that blocked Walnut Creek Road on Monday morning.
Officers were dispatched to the 2800 block of the road about 8:20 a.m. and found the deer flopping around and unable to stand. It appeared as if the deer had been struck by a car, according to a police report.
Police attempted to contact the Georgia Department of Natural Resources but weren’t able to get in touch with someone to help, according to a police report.
An officer was instructed by his supervisor to shoot and kill the deer. The deer was removed by a motorist and Macon Animal Control, according to the report.
