A Twiggs County teenager was killed Friday in a traffic accident on Ocmulgee East Boulevard, according to authorities.
Tenishia Boone, 19, of South Hampton Drive, was headed southbound on Ocmulgee East Boulevard in a black Honda Accord when she lost control of her vehicle, veered off the road and struck a tree, causing the car to overturn and eject her, said Lt. George Meadows of the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
The Honda landed on top of Boone, who was not wearing a safety belt during the incident, Meadows said. No other cars were involved.
Boone was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:15 p.m., Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said. The accident happened near Alfred Bond Drive not far from Boone’s residence, he said.
Never miss a local story.
The teenager was employed at the Best Buy at Eisenhower Parkway, Jones said, and she possibly was on her way home from work.
Boone’s father, Harold Boone, a Macon-Bibb County firefighter, and other family members were called to the scene, Jones said.
“It was a very, very sad scene,” he said.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
