A switchboard operator from Lizella has won $40,000 in a Georgia Lottery game. Annie Hill, 62, played the instant game 10X the Money.
She was at home on the phone when her husband, Henry, scratched off the lucky ticket, according to the Georgia Lottery Corp.
“He stood up and said, ‘Your ticket has $40,000 on it,’ ” Hill explained. “He almost fainted.”
Country Corner Store, located on Columbus Road in Lizella, sold the winning ticket.
Hill, who works at a Macon hospital, has four children and six grandchildren.
She plans to “pay off some bills” with her prize.
