WARNER ROBINS -- The Warner Robins metropolitan region is the second-best place in the country for engineers, the website Nerd Wallet says.
The site reviewed Bureau of Labor Statistics data to find out the Warner Robins region had more than three times the concentration of engineers as the U.S. average. They were paid an average of about $86,387 per year, well under the $102,766 salaries found in top-ranked Huntsville, Alabama.
But Warner Robins’ median gross rent of $805 compared favorably to some other top places for engineers and was less than half of that in San Jose, California. Robins Air Force Base, and supporting businesses, are major employers of engineers. About half of the 2,200 Warner Robins engineers detailed by category in the Bureau of Labor Statistics data are electronics engineers.
The same data show metro Macon engineers average about $79,036, a Telegraph analysis suggests. Some 570 engineers are detailed in the data.
The Nerd Wallet review looked at some 350 metropolitan regions. The news was shared by local officials, including those with the Houston County Development Authority and the Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce.
The Warner Robins metro region consists of Houston County.
