The downtown Macon lunch crowd will have a new place to eat beginning Thursday.
Dovetail, which opened for dinner only in 2012, will be open for lunch 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, said co-owner Chad Evans. The restaurant is on the second floor of 542 Cherry St., above The Rookery restaurant.
“It was just an obvious development for the business,” Evans said. “We were starting to reach some of our goals and some of our capacity” at Dovetail for dinner. The restaurant has a farm-to-table Southern dining concept.
“It’s a different menu, but it’s a lunch version of what people have come to expect during dinner,” Evans said. “It has a soup-of-the-day and a few more salads, and it’s a little more sandwich heavy.”
Items will have “lunch pricing with a little bit smaller dishes,” he said.
Evans suggests “and encourages” diners make reservations for lunch, but walk-ins are welcomed. Reservations can be made by calling 478-238-4693.
“We’ve brought on a handful of new people because our hours are extended,” he said. All needed employees have been hired at this time.
