A new commercial furniture business is opening later this month in downtown Macon.
Turnerboone Contract Furniture will open at 484 Cherry St. near Third Street, in the former La Dolce Vita space, said Senior Sales Executive B.J. Dunwody, who will operate the Macon business. Atlanta-based Turnerboone, which is based in Atlanta, is a 100 percent women-owned contract furniture company. Dunwody will be joined by Shelley Donaldson, a specifier/interior designer.
This will be the company’s second location outside Atlanta. The other is in Columbus, Dunwody said.
The company works with businesses by planning the space, designing it and specifying the furniture “that we think will fit the client the best. ... We will either bring them somewhere where they can see a sample of the product, or we bring the product to the showroom.”
Never miss a local story.
The 1,200-square-foot space will be repainted, recarpeted and new lighting will be installed. The basement will be used for storage.
“We will have enough furniture in the building to hold meetings and meet with clients” by Feb. 21, she said. “We won’t be completely outfitted.”
A grand opening will be held after March 1. It will be open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and by appointment at other times.
