Chase appointed as new Flint board member
Donald Chase, of Oglethorpe, was appointed recently by Flint’s board of directors to fill the vacancy created by the passing of William Brown, of Montezuma. Chase will represent Macon, Dooly and Sumter counties.
Chase is the vice president and owner of Chase Farms Inc. in Oglethorpe. He is a board member of the Macon County Farm Bureau and the Georgia Peanut Commission and chairman of the Upper Flint Water Planning Council.
Fickling adds Rowntree as agent
David Rowntree is Fickling & Co.’s newest member of its residential team. Rowntree is a native of Macon and spent several years as a firefighter/EMT and in nursing. He joins Fickling as a real estate agent.
FVSU broadcast manager receives award
For the second consecutive year, Fort Valley State University’s broadcast manager Shirley Ellis was the recipient of a Women in Radio and Music Award for her contributions in the radio and music industry by the NBPC, formerly the National Black Programmers Coalition.
Ellis was one of the honorees for her contributions to the industry at the 2013 NBPC Radio and Music awards ceremony.
McKinney promoted at Geico
Kent McKinney has been promoted to a Geico regional sales manager in the Macon office. McKinney started with Geico in 1998.
Robins Federal receives business of the month
Robins Federal Credit Union’s Jack G. Byrd Jr. Learning Center recently received the Business of the Month for January from Keep Warner Robins Beautiful.
Nancy Terrill receives Benham Award
Nancy Terrill has been named a recipient of the 16th annual Justice Robert Benham Award for Community Service for District 4 in the state. The awards are co-sponsored by the State Bar of Georgia and the Chief Justice’s Commission on Professionalism.
Terrill most recently was the continuing legal education coordinator at Mercer law School from 2002 until last fall. She previously served as an assistant dean and adjunct instructor. Terrill has been at the school almost 40 years.
Bellamy Jewelers is business of month
The Business Development Committee of the Perry Area Chamber of Commerce recognized Bellamy Jewelers as its Business of the Month for February.
Pitts earns membership to round table
Billy Pitts, of The Mutual Financial Group in Macon, earned his 18th consecutive membership in the prestigious Million Dollar Round Table. Pitts has earned a lifetime membership in MDRT and earned honor roll status.
Camp admitted to practice at U.S. Supreme Court
William John Camp, a partner at Westmoreland, Patterson, Moseley & Hinson LLP in Macon, was admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court in January. After Camp was authorized to appear and argue cases before the highest court in the country, Associate Justice Clarence Thomas met with Camp and his wife, Teresa Luhrs, at a reception to honor attorneys recently admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Brown joins Harris & James law firm
Taylor Brown has joined the Macon law firm Harris & James LLP as an associate. Brown’s practice areas include eminent domain and business litigation.
