Smallcakes A Cupcakery expects to open its third Middle Georgia location by mid-February.
“Certainly by Valentine’s Day -- our biggest day of the year,” Maury Kent, franchise owner, said in an email.
The bakery’s newest location will be at the new Lofts at Bass shopping center on Bowman Road at Bass Road in Macon. Its other Macon store is at 5974 Zebulon Road, and the Warner Robins store is at 206 Russell Parkway. Those stores will remain open, Kent said.
“We are excited about the growth,” he said. However, the businesses are for sale because of a change in Kent’s full-time job, and he may be relocating soon, he said.
“We were committed before the new job happened for me,” he said. “If they don’t sell, that’s fine ... just looking to move along when they do.”
The local franchise has about 12 to 14 workers, and many of them work at both existing stores and will work at the third, Kent said.
“We just hired an additional two staff members and will be recruiting for cashiers soon,” he said. “Folks should check our Facebook page often -- this is where we will make the announcement.”
Founded in 2008, Overland Park, Kansas-based Smallcakes A Cupcakery has more than 90 locations in the U.S. and abroad specializing in fresh-baked gourmet cupcakes, according to its website.
