Kumho Tire has begun its second round of hiring for its first North American manufacturing plant in Macon.
It is looking to hire 10 people as team leaders by the end of this month, said Stephen Adams, director of operations for the Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority. The company has not yet announced when it will begin hiring production workers.
Job candidates must be able to travel abroad for up to three months, according to the qualifications and job requirements on a one-page job description Adams provided at the authority’s meeting on Monday. Other requirements include three to five years industrial supervision experience. A high school diploma or equivalent and forklift experience is preferred.
Some of the basic functions of team leaders are to supervise, coordinate and schedule the activities of production workers; make production goals; maintain quality standards; organize and monitor work flow; ensure compliance with department policies and laws; and resolve work problems.
Anyone interested in applying for the team leader jobs should email a resume to Jim Frentheway, human resources manager, at Jfren@Kumhotire.com.
The Korean-based tire company began construction on its $413 million facility in August. It plans to hire about 450 people and begin production in early 2016.
In October, the company began its first round of hiring for about 10 management jobs, and it has filled those positions.
