A company offering guided kayak or canoe trips on the Ocmulgee River has a new owner and new name.
Longtime resident and outdoor adventurer Kathleen O’Neal is the owner of Ocmulgee Outdoor Expeditions LLC, formerly Ocmulgee Expeditions, according to a news release. She is a certified canoe instructor and has worked as a raft guide on the Ocoee and Chattooga rivers.
Weekend trips are scheduled three times a day from Amerson River Park to the Spring Street boat ramp. O’Neal worked with NewTown Macon and Macon-Bibb County to provide access to the river while improvements are underway at the river park, the release states. Shuttle service is provided.
The river trips include a choice of a canoe or kayak, life jacket, paddles and information on what to expect.
Never miss a local story.
Paddlers will be greeted at the boat ramp with cold lemonade and homemade cookies.
“In the spring when Amerson River Park reopens, we’ll add longer paddle trips down the Ocmulgee from Popes Ferry to the river park,” O’Neal said in the release.
A trip can be scheduled on the business’ website, ocmulgee outdoorexpeditions.com or by calling 733-3386.
