Two meetings will be held in the midstate this week to help employers communicate what they need to those in workforce development.
The state is holding a High Demand Career Initiative meeting 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday at Central Georgia Technical College in the Glynn Greenway building, according to a news release. It will focus on companies that do business with the military.
Another meeting will be held at the same time Thursday at Middle Georgia State College’s City of Eastman room in Eastman. This meeting will focus on the aerospace industry.
The initiative, coordinated by the Georgia Department of Economic Development’s workforce division, was created in response to employers’ “need for a consistent trained and reliable workforce,” the release stated. In response, those involved in training Georgia’s workforce -- the University System of Georgia and the Technical College System of Georgia -- will be able “to quickly develop those needs where they do not currently exist or inform the companies about existing assets.”
