Mercer University announced Tuesday that the relocation of former Warner Robins TV station WRWR to its Macon campus is now complete.
The station, which has changed its call letters to WMUB, was donated to the university in April by former state Sen. Cecil Staton and Macon neurosurgeon Dr. Joe Sam Robinson. Its new location is in Mercer Village as part of the Center for Collaborative Journalism, a partnership comprising Mercer’s journalism program, The Telegraph and Georgia Public Broadcasting.
The station will be affiliated with the American Sports Network and will air 33 live college football games featuring the Southern Conference, Conference USA, the Big South Conference and the Colonial Athletic Association. Mercer’s Oct. 25 road game against University of Tennessee-Chattanooga will be broadcast on WMUB.
The station also is an affiliate of MHz Networks, which presents international news and entertainment programming.
Never miss a local story.
Additionally the facilities will be used to produce coverage of sporting events that can be streamed live on ESPN3. All men’s and women’s basketball games and other Mercer sports will be broadcast live this year on ESPN3.
