A new pharmacy under construction at Forsyth and College streets Monday will get a second chance to persuade the Macon-Bibb County Planning and Zoning Commission to allow a drive-through window at the site.
The new building replaces an abandoned gas station at the corner site. Contractors are using brick and colors to match the Ronald McDonald House across the street.
The plans for the building and the drive-through were approved by the commission’s Design Review Board in November, but a later inspection noted changes to the original plan. The drive-through window was to be an open space, but planning staffers said a 240-square-foot canopy had been added.
The board requested the applicant, Joseph Okere, to submit plans that depicted all changes, including plans for landscaping and sidewalks.

The design board met Sept. 6 and deemed the canopy inappropriate. The application was heard at the commission’s Sept. 12 meeting. However, only three members were present, and the issue was deferred until Monday’s meeting.
The zoning meeting begins at 1:30 p.m. at the Willie C. Hill City Hall Annex, 682 Cherry St.
