A toy manufacturing plant has moved out of its Fort Valley facility after closing its doors in January.
The sixth and final inspection of the facility, which was home to Step2, was completed in March, Charles Sims, director of the Development Authority of Peach County, told the authority’s board Thursday.
Step2 left behind some items that may be used by the next occupant, such as silos, a trash collection system, power panels and overhead gas lines, Sims said.
“I tried to leave in place things that might be useful to show a prospective tenant what the building can do for them,” he said.
The items may be easily removed if a future tenant doesn’t want them, he said.
The authority has obtained temporary insurance to cover the building and grounds.
The Peach County Sheriff’s Office will provide security during the “critical evening hours,” and a burglar alarm was installed, Sims said.
Step2 manufactures preschool and toddler toys.
Its closing put 104 full-time employees out of work.
