Nominations are now open for the Outstanding Georgia Young Peanut Farmer Award.
The award is based on the applicant’s overall farm operation; environmental and stewardship practices; and leadership, civic, church, and community service activities, according to a news release.
The Georgia Peanut Commission sponsors the award.
The award is open to any active Georgia peanut farmer who will not be more than 45 years old by the end of 2010. An individual may receive the award only once.
Applications are due to the commission office by Jan. 4, and the winner will be announced Jan. 21 at the Georgia Peanut Farm Show in Albany, the release states.
The application is available online at www.gapeanuts.com or by calling Joy Carter at (229) 386-3690 or e-mailing email@example.com. The winner receives registration and hotel accommodations to attend the Southern Peanut Growers Conference in July and a sign to display at his or her farm.
