Rescuers with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources found two missing Dodge County men on the Ocmulgee River near Abbeville Tuesday afternoon, Dodge County Sheriff Lynn Sheffield said.
The two men, identified as Chris Hightower and Donald Sheffield, were found in relatively good health at about 1:30 p.m. One of the men was being treated for high blood sugar.
The two men went boating Monday evening and hadn’t returned home, the sheriff said. Family members contacted Dodge County 911 at 8:15 a.m., and officials brought in DNR for assistance.
The two men told officials the current of the river put debris into their boat, which sank. The two men were found holding onto a log in the river.
