Houston Medical Center has been named one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for 2012 by HealthGrades, a source of hospital quality ratings.
Hospitals in the top 100 have been ranked in the top 5 percent for clinical quality for at least the last four years based on Medicare records and patient hospitalization data, according to the HealthGrades report.
“This recognition is an incredible testament to the sound, diligent, and consistent care our people provide every day,” Houston Healthcare Chief Executive Officer Cary Martin said in a news release.
Patients at the top 100 hospitals have a 30 percent lower chance of dying compared to all other hospitals across 17 procedures and diagnoses, according to the HealthGrades report.

According to a hospital release, both Houston Medical Center and Perry Hospital were noted as receiving a number of other quality care awards, particularly in terms of pulmonary care.
