Ed Bond, a former Bibb County coroner and former Macon councilman, on Wednesday announced his run for the north Bibb County Commission District 3 seat. The post is now held by Elmo Richardson, who plans to retire. Bond said he will run as a Republican.
Bond served as coroner for 14 years, retiring at the end of 2005. He served on the City Council for four years beginning in 1970. Bond said he wants to bring his budgeting experience and common sense to the Bibb County Commission.
“I’m a team player. I’m an action person,” he said. “We must live within the budget.”
Bond has also led the Middle Georgia Area Planning & Development Commission, the Better Business Bureau, the Macon Rotary Club and other organizations, according to a statement. Other candidates for District 4 are expected announce in the coming weeks, but none has filed with the state to raise money. Qualifying will be in May.
