The court hearing is under way for the man accused in the dismemberment death of law graduate Lauren Giddings.
Bibb County prosecutors were to formally notify 25-year-old Stephen McDaniel of their intent to seek the death penalty in the death of Giddings, his neighbor and Mercer University's law school classmate.
Lawyers are also expected to discuss the intricate rules governing capital punishment cases and Judge S. Phillip Brown will explore potential dates for McDaniel's arraignment on the murder charge.
Giddings’ torso was found in a trash bin outside her Georgia Avenue apartment building June 30, 2011.
